ARAG is hiring an associate actuary! This person will maintain actuarial reporting systems, analyze actuarial reports, summarize reports and provide recommendations related to the likelihood of future events and risk mitigation. Proficiency in VBA, SAS, vb.net and C# is preferred.

• Applies advanced actuarial techniques across all tasks.
• Prepares analysis to identify and solve problems from the actuarial perspective.
• Develops rating plans and reviews actual performance against those plans to facilitate attainment of company business objectives.
• Communicates rating plan revisions to underwriting team and assists pricing analyst in the application of rating plans for prospective clients.
• Works with pricing analyst to conduct pricing reviews on existing clients to determine where pricing revisions are needed to maintain profitability. Responsible for quarterly reserve valuation process.
• Coordinates with external actuary and auditing firms with regards to actuarial information.
• Prepares rate filings and serves as actuarial expert with various state insurance agencies.
• Performs analysis of emerging experience, monitors marketplace and economic trends and reviews implications.
• Prepares annual loss frequency analysis to project adequate price levels for future policy periods.
• Develops, maintains, and analyzes projection models.
• Applies sound actuarial principles and maintain actuarial qualifications in compliance with regulations.
• Collaborates with key stakeholders on the development of additional products to meet the needs of clients. Provides analysis with regards to profitability.
• Provides analytical and research-based consultation to achieve effective solutions.
• Establishes actuarial procedures and documents them for internal use.
• Serves as actuarial resource to internal and external contacts.
• Reviews, recommends, and implements process improvements within the department.
• Serves as a positive role model by representing ARAG at its Best.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge, in the areas of, finance, mathematics, statistics and data analysis.
• Proficient in actuarial concepts and methodologies with a thorough understanding of general insurance.
• Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, the Actuarial Standards of Practice promulgated by the Actuarial Standards Board, and the Code of Professional Conduct of the AAA. CAS is required.
• Knowledge of employee benefit industry a plus.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or another quantitative-related field.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a related field.

Certifications, Licenses, Associations, etc.

• Must be within two exams of obtaining Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and maintain continuing education requirements as specified by CAS or AAA.
